Though the Twin Cities has its own fashion week coming up (Sept. 18-26), it's still pretty exciting when Minnesotans get into the mix at New York Fashion Week. Current Project Runway contestant Ra'mon-Lawrence Coleman will be having his first official showing at New York Fashion Week. Local jewelry designer (and FOX news anchor) for her line ROX Robyne Robinson will be presenting her jewelry with his Spring 2010 collection. (Full disclosure: I am serving as Artistic Director, with my stylist collective Eclecticoiffeur as Lead Stylists.) A number of high-profile guests have been said to have RSVP'd, so stay tuned!

In other news, For one, Minneapolis-based handbag designer Laura Nelli will be presenting her Spring 2010 accessories collection during New York Fashion Week at Henri Bendel. The
art deco inspired collection will debut as part of Fashion’s Night Out. As usual, local photographer Stephanie Colgan will be shooting a number of shows for
New York Times, while photographer Jennifer Cress will be shooting at Custo Barcelona's show.

For more New York Fashion Week updates from a local perspective, check out Sara Glassman's recaps at METRO Magazine's The Fitting Room blog.

Every day, now through September 17ish, PopFizz Daily will continue to bring you the latest and greatest in the Twin Cities, while also blogging the spring 2010 runway shows in New York on Metro magazine's
The Fitting Room blog. It should include recaps with Laura Nelli of Nelle Handbags, Robyne Robinson of ROX, and runway reports from BCBG, Diane von Furstenberg, Badgley Mischka, Phillip Lim, Nanette Lepore, Ralph Lauren and more.

[Target's artist-designed billboards in Time Square]

Being that Target is a locally-based company, we're calling Target news local. And here's some just-off-the-wires news: On Thursday, Target transformed its Times Square billboards into an artistic homage to New York City with the unveiling of larger-than-life commissioned works from emerging artists. The billboards will remain on display through the end of October, but you'll be able to have your own version when the vinyl is made into 1,600 limited-edition tote bags based on a design by Anna Sui (whose Target collection launches next Sunday; check out this Thursday's edition of for more). No saying where we can score these totes, but hopefully they'll make their way to the Twin Cities at some point.
