The costumes of the Guthrie's "M. Butterfly"

Melissa Colgan at Mpls.St.Paul Magazine just posted a great blog about new Guthrie production M. Butterfly's costumes.


An excerpt: From the traditional Kimono dress (circa 1895, Nagasaki) of the Geishas in the Madame Butterfly Opera scenes to the blood red cheongsam Song wears in 1960s Beijing, Cho's costuming helps illustrate the clash of cultures, while lending authenticity to the more minimal stage elements.

Though l'etoile's M. Butterfly night at the Guthrie on Wednesday is sold out, you can still get tickets to the show now through June 6.
