When celebrated local fashion designer and illustrator Max Lohrbach moved back to his Mantorville homestead last year, it was for good reason - he received a grant from the South Eastern Minnesota Arts Council and the Mantorville Art Guild.
With it, he decided to do an installed illustration: a life-size, 2 and 3D illustration featuring new garments and paintings by Max Lohrbach. Similar to a window display, the scene captures a seated group, circa 1876, "perhaps moments before a Victorian photographer captures the image." Max says, "The display serves not only as an alternative way to showcase garments, but as an unwritten story and common ancestor portrait."
The opening reception on August 21 should be worth the drive.
