ANTM's Raina Hein stars in Bon Iver video

Today, Bon Iver released his music video for "Calgary," the lead-off single from his forthcoming (though leaked) album Bon Iver, Bon Iver - and it has some strong Minnesota connections. For one, it was directed by Dan Huiting, the lensman behind MPLS.TV's excellent concert footage and City of Music live music video series, along with his frequent cohort Andre Durand. For two, it stars Minnesota native and America's Next Top Model runner-up Raina Hein, whose star has shone brightly thanks to her brush with reality TV. The quasi-magical, darkly beautiful video references late '80s film (pick your reference point: The NeverEnding Story's swampland; Labyrinth's Pit of Eternal Stench; The Princess Bride's Fire Swamp). Video: Local style writer Joan Erakit

Local arts and style writer Joan Erakit of Frank151 and TheBrownGirlFiles recently did a photo shoot with SFA (Secrets Fashion Agency) as a revamp for her press kit as a style writer both inside and outside of the Twin Cities.

Recap: HAUS Salon grand opening

On Saturday, I attended the grand opening for hairstylist Charlie Brackney's new South Minneapolis salon, HAUS, and it was quite the decadent affair. Vision models dressed by salon curator Emma Berg and styled by HAUS served desserts, and guests included jewelry designer Stephanie Lake, Kate Iverson of Permanent Art & Design Group and l'etoile magazine (who put together the opening with Robyn Lewis and Permanent's Joe Belk), stylist and style writer Jane Belfry, and filmmaker Elijah Chhum. The event, which doubled as a Drew Peterson art opening, showcased the amazing custom interiors by local interior designer Jonathan Gomez Whitney, who was recommended to the salon by Emma Berg (whose kitchen has been designed by Whitney). In review: Vita.mn Poolside Fashion Show 2011

Last Thursday, I styled the annual Vita.mn Poolside Fashion Show for the fifth time since it debuted in 2007.
