Today, Bon Iver released his music video for "Calgary," the lead-off single from his forthcoming (though leaked) album Bon Iver, Bon Iver - and it has some strong Minnesota connections. For one, it was directed by Dan Huiting, the lensman behind MPLS.TV's excellent concert footage and City of Music live music video series, along with his frequent cohort Andre Durand. For two, it stars Minnesota native and America's Next Top Model runner-up Raina Hein, whose star has shone brightly thanks to her brush with reality TV. The quasi-magical, darkly beautiful video references late '80s film (pick your reference point: The NeverEnding Story's swampland; Labyrinth's Pit of Eternal Stench; The Princess Bride's Fire Swamp).
