Editorial: "Twilight" by Emily Utne for Ghost Dancer

National jewelry line Ghost Dancer just debuted the lookbook for its Fall/Winter 2012 collection, "Twilight," which was shot, styled and laid out. Anyone know is familiar with Utne's personal style shouldn't be surprised - the styling is purely her own, a mix of Stevie Nicks and '70s-meets-'90s gothic witchiness. It features Minnesota model Ashley Rae Weisz, a former America's Next Top Model contestant who is represented by Vision, and makeup by Amber Brenke. Local designer Emma Berg just revealed photos from a shoot by photographer Emily Utne featuring designs from her S/S 2011 collection. Hair and makeup was provided by HAUS Salon owner Charlie Brackney and HAUS' Heath Bryant, with modeling by Vision's Elle Williams and styling by yours truly.

A vision quest is a rite of passage in some Native American cultures to find oneself and the intended spiritual and life direction. Local photographer Emily Utne went on a Vision Quest with rocker Liám Watkins (First Communion Afterparty) in the woods - and photographed the journey.

Emma Berg design featured on CBS Local

CBS Local just featured a spring/summer 2011 dress by local designer Emma Berg in an article on the best summer dresses. The gorgeous image featured is from Emma's recent lookbook shoot in collaboration with HAUS Salon, photographer Emily Utne, modeled by Elle Williams of Vision, and styling by yours truly. Local designer Emma Berg’s white and red halter dress showcased two of this season’s biggest trends: white color and flowy fabric. Top designers like Emilio Pucci, D&G and Alberta Ferretti floated flowy, effortless gowns down the runway. Emma Berg put her own spin on these trends, using silk crinkled chiffon and adding a splash of color with a red ribbon waist and red lace guipure back and neck detail. Kevin Kramp named a finalist for international fashion competition

2011 is really adding up to be Kevin Kramp's year. Hot off a stunning MNfashion Week showing, plus recent exhibitions at Paris Fashion Week and Antwerp fashion musueum MoMu, the Twin Cities-based knitwear designer was just named one of eleven fashion designer finalists amongst 850 applications for the tenth anniversary edition of ITS# (International Talent Support), the most important and influential global fashion design competition for new designers in the world. As part of this project, Kevin will be showing in the ITS#10 fashion show in Italy on July 15 and 16, where a winner will be selected

As part of the show, prestigious fashion house Maison Martin Margiela will challenge the fashion finalists with a project that re-elaborates iconic items from the house. The winner of the MMM Award will receive €5,000 and will be offered an internship at the prestigious fashion house.

Jake Rudh and Jessa Alt cover City Pages, "Mad Men" style

The cover and spread for this year City Pages' Best of the Twin Cities issue is Mad Men-fabulous. This year's cover models, mid-century modern fans DJ Jake Rudh and Jessa Alt, look simply stunning in their late '50s/early '60s styling in this spread shot by Emily Utne. Though I have to say, City Pages sort of stole l'etoile's idea to use the two as models in mid-century styling - we did the same thing for our Jubilee holiday party promo images last year. But ain't they adorable?

Local stylist Jane Belfry's new test shoot with photographer Emily Utne, hairstylist Theo Nguyen, and NYC-based model Louise P. According to Utne, "These photos haven't a stitch of editing and this girl is perfection!" The images are indeed lovely in their simplicity.

Glamorama ladies in Joynoelle

I had the honor of getting to wear a Joynoelle piece to Macy's Glamorama earlier this month - and I wasn't the only one. Melissa Colgan (Mpls.St.Paul Magazine fashion editor), Sara Rogers (Mall of America trend specialist) and Raina Hein (America's Next Top Model runner-up) also donned looks by designer Joy Teiken.

Emma Berg just posted a preview of her upcoming spring 2010 lookbook (to be debuted on l'etoile magazine in the next couple of weeks). The collection made its runway debut at Voltage 2010.
