Local fashion round-up for 3.15.09-3.21.09

There's always more happening in Minneapolis fashion that I can possibly cover myself, and there's plenty of other good coverage that I don't happent to write. Here are some blips in the local fashion scene this past week:

Controversy is sparking over local designer Katherine Gerdes' rumored involvement in the IAmMoody show during MNfashion Week. The former Project Runway contestant had this to say via facebook: "Katherine Gerdes is NOT having a fashion show this spring and doesn't think anybody should be invovled in the 7sushi show since they seem to think it's okay to lie in order..." I, for one, am bummed to hear she's not doing a spring show. However, another rumored Project Runway contestant may be involved with the show, so stay tuned.

Find out what goes on behind the scenes of a fashion shoot in this write-up by Allison Kaplan of the Pioneer Press.

First reviews are in Northfield-based model Colin Steers' performance in the first two episodes of the new season of Make Me a Supermodel. Although in the first episode he landed in the bottom three, "designer and judge Catherine Malandrino said dreamily that Colin’s look was 'poetic and timeless.'" In the second episode, "all agreed Colin displayed 'fantastic' improvement in his walking skills, and Tyson (Beckford) announced, 'Colin, you’re taking direction well, but step it up.'"

The Minnesota Daily fashion writer Kara Nesvig's weekly column The Fashionista Is In is always full of style tips, news, and her takes on the world of fashion. This week's column offers style tips for spring breakers and a review of Paris Fashion Week.
