MIA's Third Thusday presented by MNfashion: Emma Berg

On November 18, four designers will show three pieces each based off of works in the MIA's permanent collection. In partnership with MNfashion, this event challenges some innovative local fashion designers to reimagine art as fashion. Laura Fulk, Samantha Rei, Raul Osorio and Emma Berg will each create mini-collections inspired by the MIA's permanent collection - which will then be donned by models using the museum's great halls as a decadent runway. (I spotlighted it for's Fall Preview issue.)

Each designer is asked to share the creative process; here's Emma Berg's inspiration images:

Pablo Picasso, Woman in an Armchair, 1927

Salvador Dali, Portrait of Juan de Pareja, the Assistant to Velazquez, 1960

Nkisi African Sculpture from the 20th Century
