Di Medlock in Marie Claire magazine

Minnesota native Di Medlock is certainly making waves after her move to NYC to work for Exhale Mind Body Salon. After being named "Best Brow Guru" by New York Magazine last month, Marie Claire used Di (my former partner in local stylist collective Eclecticoiffeur) as an skincare expert source for an article in their forthcoming April issue on spring skincare tips. Jane Belfry shot for NYC personal style site Style Like U

Back in September during New York Fashion Week, local stylist and blogger Jane Belfry was shot by personal style website, Style Like U, and they just posted the resulting spread. Her blog, Couture et Cuisine, was also recently added to the StyleList blog network.

Preview: Crooked Teeth Magazine issue 2

New local arts and fashion photography magazine Crooked Teeth, helmed by 16-year-old editor-in-chief Caitlin Angelica, just released a preview of their second forthcoming March/April issue. Photographer David Mendolia shot Ignite model Rikki at Saint Anthony Main in Minneapolis in a spread featuring soft peach and neutral vintage pieces. Look for the issue to launch later this week. Local fashion link roundup: 3.14-3.22

A little bit late, here is a week in local fashion links and news.


Stylist/blogger Jane Belfry offers a looks into her beauty necessities. (Via Couture et Cuisine)

MNfashion puts the spotlight on METRO Magazine editor Mary O'Regan with this Q&A leading up to her hosting the MNfashion Style Dash at the Mall of America on March 26.

Elizabeth Dehn of locally-based beauty blog Beauty Bets offers tips on pro makeup and hair styling services, including the new Smart & Chic Beauty Lounge, for Star Tribune.

National online magazine Ermou Mag spotlights local knitwear designer Annie Larson, saying, "Picture the Italian Missoni house of fashion collaborating with the American Ralph Lauren and having Rei Kawakubo of Japanese Comme des Garcons as their stylist."

Tara Sloane spotlights Voltage designer Kathryn V. for l'etoile magazine with a Q&A. Look to l'etoile in coming weeks for more Voltage designer spotlights.

Mary O'Regan offers a behind-the-scenes look at a recent Minnesota Bride shoot featuring styling by Grant Whittaker, a dress by local line Joynoelle and jewelry by local designer Stephanie Lake.

Local 17-year-old style blogger Chloe Ahlf of Urban Tease offers her hair/makeup regiment and style tips via a couple of YouTube videos.

National blog Send the Thread does a Q&A with Kim Halzle of locally-based blog Runway Rundown.

Kate Iverson sneak peeks some new pieces by Emma Berg for her upcoming MNfashion Week show on last weekend's Scene Spree for Secrets of the City.

Kate, the editor-in-chief of fashion and arts online magazine l'etoile, was also named one of the Minneapolis-St. Paul Business Journal's 40 Under 40 for 2011.

ReadyMade & Frank151.com spotlight MNfashion Week calendar

After long last, national eyes are landing on the fledgling local fashion industry. National DIY print magazine ReadyMade just gave us props, via a blog post highlighting the MNfashion Week spring 2011 calendar, as did national culture blog Frank151.com, which did an interview with publicity director Angie Arner.


I have to add that I love this adorable promo image for Spring MNfashion Week.

Secrets of the City tours Stephanie Lake's home jewelry studio

Local jewelry designer Stephanie Lake just got the Secrets of the City Sunday Slideshow treatment. I recently had the wonderful opportunity to work with Stephanie's jewelry in an upcoming photo shoot for l'etoile. Check out the interview and slideshow at secretsofthecity.com.

Stephanie Lake has a fabulous studio in her home in Minnetonka where she hand crafts her luxury jewelry. In addition to her jewelry, Lake is an established interior designer with a Ph.D in the history of Decorative Arts and Design along with being the foremost scholar on fashion icon Bonnie Cashin. MNfashion Week just released the promo image for The MNfashion Shows presents Emma Berg (SS 11) & Kevin Kramp (AW 11), happening April 14 at the Grainbelt Building in Northeast Minneapolis. Photographed at new martinpatrick3/I.D. (inside design) space, the shoot was concepted by Emma Berg and Kevin Kramp, with photography by Robb Long and hair/makeup by Charlie Brackney and Heath Bryant of HAUS Salon. The female model is Mary Cann from Vision Management Group, INC.
