Hair salon Evolution Experience Hair Culture is hosting a fashion show at the Calhoun Beach Club, Swell Society. It will feature sporty swimwear from Hurley, Quiksilver, Nikita, Obey, Cal Surf and more. (7-10 p.m. $15-20. 2925 Dean Pkwy., Mpls.

Stationary and event planning shop Give My Regards To... hosts its annual Summer Sidewalk Sale as well as a trunk show by SBG Designs. SATURDAY: Record collectors, take note: Hot Pants DJ Rambo Salinas and friends (including fellow record aficionados Ben Mena, King Otto, Dale Burback, and James Leonardo) will be selling a ton of vinyl, including hip-hop and 45s of all genres, lawn-sale style. It's the real deal, with most of it priced at $50-80. Vinyl listening players will be set up for easy listening. SATURDAY: DIY! Shoestring Chic at Art & Architecture
Does your wallet have the Great Depression blues? Are you nostalgic for flour sack dresses? RetroRama designer Sarah Holm will ease your pain and show you the ropes of creating clothing out of found materials. SUNDAY: Barbette's Fete Nationale (aka Bastille Day) annual artist mart is one of the coolest of the year, showcasing one-of-a-kind poster prints and artisan-made goods. NEXT THURSDAY: Chamber presents "Sanitarium" at the Bolt Underground
Inspired by sanitariums, sanatoriums and asylums from the late 1800s and early 1900s, this event will feature the latest in neo-Victorian nurse chic by local designers Blasphemina's Closet, Scoundrelle's Keep, and Apatico, plus music by Skittish, stripteasing by Midnight Muse Revue, and a photo room. Turn-of-the-century medical dress encouraged!
