Askov Finlayson becomes first local retailer to sell Annie Larson's sweaters

After successfully selling out of her line of knit hats last fall, Askov Finlayson has become the first store in the Twin Cities (and one of only a handful of retailers in the world) to sell Annie Larson's limited-edition line of whimsical, brightly-patterned sweaters. The Minneapolis-turned-Brooklyn designer's line, ALL Knitwear, has received international acclaim as of late, including high-profile press in Time Out New York, Refinery29, Coolhunting.com, and Australian magazine YEN. Though the designer no longer calls Minneapolis home, it's nice to have a little bit of Annie back.

Now open: Askov Finlayson

With Askov Finlayson, the Dayton brothers have completed their trifecta composed of the Bachelor Farmer restaurant and the speakeasy-style Marvel Bar, which are all built into the same 1881 North Loop warehouse. The store's minimalist, classic interior is clearly inspired by the brothers' northern Minnesota cabin, with their wood beams, concrete floor and brick. The shop focuses on classic menswear and men's accessories from local to international brands, including quilted jackets from Britain's Barbour, flannels from Woolrich, Momotaro jeans, surfer sweats from Warriors of Radness, and classic raincoats from Norse Project. Coupled with the nearby martinpatrick3, North Loop shopping seems to keep getting better and better. In addition to menswear, the store also sells gifty items that can be equally appreciated by both sexes. (Hours: Noon- 8 p.m. Tue.-Sat. & 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Sun. 200 N. 1st St., Minneapolis, 612-206-3925, www.askovfinlayson.com)
