Style shot: YQY by Vivian at Attitude City Yacht Club

I was so in love with this chevron jumper by new local designer Vivian Aronson, I just had to have it to wear to the annual Attitude City Yacht Club boat party last Saturday.

Glamorama ladies in Joynoelle

I had the honor of getting to wear a Joynoelle piece to Macy's Glamorama earlier this month - and I wasn't the only one. Melissa Colgan (Mpls.St.Paul Magazine fashion editor), Sara Rogers (Mall of America trend specialist) and Raina Hein (America's Next Top Model runner-up) also donned looks by designer Joy Teiken.

Here's Raina and I in the VIP photo booth at the after party, both in Joynoelle-designed looks.

Making-of: The flyer art for vitaminwaterZERO Flourish

Last month, commissioned rising graphic designer Caroline Royce to create flyer art for a fashion show I was producing for vitaminwater/Glaceau for the product launch of its ZERO line. She did an interesting blog on her creative process for the lovely flyer art. Here's what she had to say:

[Preliminary sketches]

I got an email from local freelance fashion writer/stylist Jahna Peloquin about a fashion show presented by Vitaminwater ZERO. They wanted a poster done, and her description was something "whimsical, elegant, like an abstract sketch of a woman from the 40's" or something. So, I that's what I literally did.

I wasn't going to be able to sketch out what I wanted to by hand. I looked up some images from google and found one. I then used my wacom tablet in photoshop to trace a rough yet elegant sketch of her. I was going for something much like Garance Doré does with her fashion sketches. Photoshop wasn't quite good enough to achieve this look. Plus, it would turn out lo-res and gross. On a whim, I decided to see what would happen if I put the .psd file into Illustrator and did a live trace. The results were surprisingly perfect. It made the lines clean, dramatic, stylish, and best yet: hand-drawn.

[The final product]

The swooping colors were based off of some vitaminwater flavors. It modernized it a bit, and also looks like my work. My boyfriend also pointed out that it looked like a runway. I was like, "oh yeah! duh!"

Adam Livermore to be apprentice to celeb hairstylist

Just got word that Spalon Montage star hairstylist Adam Livermore will begin serving as big-name celeb hairstylist Oribe’s apprentice beginning August 28. Livermore will be working and travelling with Oribe, the godfather of big, sexy hair and J.Lo’s hair architect, the majority of the time, but he will return to Spalon for a week every other month to share his new-found trends and techniques with clients.

The Minneapoline relaunches

The Minneapoline, Minneapolis' premier street style blog, underwent an extensive makeover yesterday. The shiny new site by the always-stylish, newly-married photog Ellen Dahl Lawson (who also shoots the style section of Vita.mn) now has its own URL, a new logo, a new layout, and new features.

And now that she presumably has a little bit more time on her hands, she's introducing a few new features: "Minneapoline of the Month," in which readers can submit their most fashion forward full-length photo in hopes of getting it featured on the blog; as well as online shopping giveaways. This month, the site will be giving away a $100 gift certificate to high-end online retailer, Shopbop.com. (The details about the giveaway will be posted on The Minneapoline tomorrow.)

Le Petit Connaisseur de la Mode also nabbed a coveted slot in The Minneapoline's blogroll. (Thanks, Ellen!)
